As we move further into 2018, cybercrime continues to be on the minds of executives globally. The risk to business, and individuals continues to grow exponentially, with new breaches being reported almost daily.

Cybercrime is the greatest threat to every company in the world, and one of the biggest problems with mankind. The impact on society is reflected in the Official 2017-2018 Cybercrime Report, published by Cybersecurity Ventures.

According to the report, cybercrime will cost the world $6 trillion annually by 2021, up from $3 trillionin 2015. This represents the greatest transfer of economic wealth in history, risks the incentives for innovation and investment, and will be more profitable than the global trade of all major illegal drugscombined.

Thousands of startups have been formed over the past decade to focus on combating cybercrime.  The Cybersecurity 500 features the hottest and most innovative companies in this market.

Cybersecurity Ventures published a quarterly edition of the Cybersecurity 500 in 2016 and 2017. “What started out as a skunkworks project in 2015, and then became an unofficial beta list, has morphed into an official list for our industry in 2018,” says Steve Morgan, founder and Editor-In-Chief at Cybersecurity Ventures.

The first annual Cybersecurity 500 list will be announced to a live audience at the Cyber Investing Summit in New York City on May 15, 2018. “We’ll kick off the Summit by sharing the latest cybercrime statistics and announcing our list, which will be distributed to the media later that day,” adds Morgan.

Now in its third year, the Cyber Investing Summit is an all-day conference focused on investing in the cybersecurity industry, which is predicted to exceed $1 trillion in cumulative spending on products and services over the next five years, according to the Cybersecurity Market Report.

Cybersecurity Ventures is the Official Research Partner for the 2018 Cyber Investing Summit, which is being held at Convene at 32 Old Slip, just steps from Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange.
