International leaders in insurance and technology will headline the 2018 Global Insurance Symposium held in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 24-26. Both speakers will bring unique insights on cutting-edge ideas and challenges facing traditional insurance companies, insurtech, startups, and industry professionals.

Hailing from Hamburg, Germany, Dr. Robin Kiera is one of the most influential thought leaders in digital transformation, fintech, and insurtech. Kiera, recently named a top 15 insurtech online influencer, will use real examples from across the world to address how insurance companies can survive challenges of digital disruption through innovation and even use digital disruption as an opportunity.

Dr. Anya Prince, associate professor of law and member of the University of Iowa Genetics Cluster, will explore ethical, legal, and social implications of genomic testing. Her keynote will include thoughts on how new technology around genomics and genetic testing impacts insurance coverage of genetic technologies and interventions.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring a diverse group of keynote speakers and panelists to this year’s Global Insurance Symposium,” said Laura Beebe, Global Insurance Symposium co-chair. “With technology and innovation ever present in the insurance industry, we are glad to be able to offer experts who can speak to a wide range of topics affecting regulators, carriers, startups, and industry leaders.”

“As in years past, our speakers offer world-class expertise and a unique take on key issues impacting insurance and technology today and tomorrow,” said Kay Godfredsen, Global Insurance Symposium co-chair and first deputy commissioner for the Iowa Insurance Division. “We believe it’s what makes this event special and one insurance and technology professionals won’t want to miss.”
