Machine Learning – The 10 Top Influencers

Machine Learning is a very hot topic in the technology world currently. We have compiled a list of the top ten individual influencers in the machine learning space. If you are interested in this area of learning, you would do well to follow these ten twitter accounts and learn from what they have to share.

1. Xavier Amatriain

Xavier Amatriain is the co-founder/CTO of Dr. Assist, a company dedicated to Improving healthcare with AI/Machine Learning. He describes himself as a Computer Science researcher, manager, and technology geek. He is known for his work on Recommender Systems and Machine Learning. He was previously the leader of engineering at Quora, and Research/Engineering director at Netflix.

2. Hugo Larochelle

Hugo Larochelle is a Google Brain researcher, and machine learning professor at Sherbrooke University in Canada. Hugo’s work concentrates on  machine learning -the development of algorithms capable of extracting concepts and abstractions from data. He is particularly interested in deep neural networks, mostly applied in the context of big data and to artificial intelligence problems such as computer vision and natural language processing.

3. Andreas Mueller

Andreas Mueller is a Machine learner, python geek and scikit-learn developer. He is the author of “Introduction to Machine Learning with Python”.  Andreas is a Lecturer at the Columbia Data Science Institute.

4. Olivier Grisel

Oliver Grisel is an engineer at @Parietal_INRIA, he contributes to scikit-learn and related tools. Olivier tweets about Python, Machine Learning research in general and Deep Learning in particular.

5. Charles Skamser

Charles Skamser is an industry thought leader on utilizing predictive analytics throughout the entire IT lifecycle.

6. Shakir Mohamed

Shakir Mohamed is a staff research scientist working in statistical machine learning and artificial intelligence at DeepMind, London, where he works towards the goal of developing intelligent and general-purpose learning systems.

7. John Morrow

John Morrow is a Machine Intelligence consultant at Morrow Consultants. John works with clients when they recognize a need to leverage machine intelligence in their own organizations. He works with them to evaluate and implement machine learning into their systems and products.

8.  Oriol Vinyals

Oriol Vinyals is a Research Scientist at Google. He works in deep learning with Google DeepMind — previously he was a member of the Google Brain team. He holds a Ph.D. in EECS from University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters degree from University of California, San Diego.

9. Ryan Rosario

Ryan Rosario is the creator and maintainer of Byte Mining. He describes himself as a data geek born, raised and entrenched in Southern California He is a Statistician-turned-Computer Scientist. He recently received his Ph.D. in Statistics from UCLA. Ryan’s thesis area of specialization was data mining machine learning.

10. Peter Skomoroch

Peter Skomoroch is an entrepreneur and data scientist based in San Francisco. His main focus is building intelligent systems to automate manual processes and help people make better decisions. Peter specializes in solving difficult algorithmic challenges, leading cross-functional teams, and developing engaging product features powered by data and machine learning. Previously he was Principal Data Scientist at LinkedIn where he led a team focused on reputation, search and shipping data driven products.
